I started Lupron on 7/26. Lupron uses a small, insulin sized needle. It basically puts your body into a menopausal state so that you don’t get pregnant with your own baby during this process. My amazing husband, and occasionally my son (14), give me my shots. I have vasovagal syncope, which causes my blood pressure to drop when a needle goes into me, causing me to faint. Typically I have to be laying down for all my shots. Lupron tends to make me cranky and causes me to have headaches. It also will cause me to be warmer than normal.
Today I had my baseline appointment. This is where they take a blood sample to test your estrogen and progesterone levels. They want to verify that you are in the correct range to start the stimulation medications. They will also do an internal (transvaginal) ultrasound. This will allow them to determine the thickness of your uterine lining and examine your ovaries for follicles (sacs containing eggs). At this point, they want to see a thin lining. They never want to see follicles!
I was nervous about going to this appointment today. I stopped birth control pills on 6/29. I didn’t get a period, so I reached out to the nurse. She informed me that I probably didn’t have any lining to shed, since I’ve been on active birth control non-stop since April and haven’t had a period since March.
Today results showed that I had a follicle and that my lining was thick. It also showed that I had elevated estrogen. This means that we are canceling my transfer for this month. The clinic is calling in a new medication that should lower my estrogen level and cause me to have a period. I will also be stopping Lupron.
I’m pretty bummed about not being able to transfer this month. I know it’s being pushed back one month, but it’s still upsetting. This did happen in the last journey as well and we ended up with a beautiful little girl for my IP’s. I have faith that it will all work out.
I speak to my Indented Fathers almost daily. We are very close. They wished me luck on my appointment today. When we got the results they reassured me that it would all work out. They tell me that they are with me. They are super sweet!
Right now I’m praying to the period Gods! Once I have my period then I’ll update the clinic and they’ll send me a new calendar to start again.
