Meet Taylor!

“I never met an unkind soul with the agency and I was very appreciative of their support throughout my journey.”

Taylor is an amazing surrogate who delivered a baby boy for a loving family in 2023.

Q: What led you to become a Surrogate?

I always knew I wanted to make a difference, even if it was a small kind act, but I never knew what I would be passionate enough about to fulfill that, but as I birthed my own children and fostered my niece and nephew, I realized how amazing having a child in your life is. Having a child makes you want to be a better person and set a better example, then after a few friends and family members struggled to conceived, I realized being a surrogate was how I could make a difference and pay tribute to those in my life who have struggled to get the Mom or Dad title.

Q. Who was the most significant support person throughout your journey?

My husband was my biggest support system throughout the journey. He never once disagreed with me being a surrogate, he traveled with me each time, and when pregnancy sickness or difficulties became present he took on the main caregiver role with grace.

Q. What made you decide to choose your Intended Parents?

Our IPs were so kind and respectful from the moment we met them. They were nothing but grateful and made that clear during the initial meeting. Our IPs gave us the relationship we wanted with them and trusted us completely. The IPs included my children into the relationship as well.

Q. What are some of the highlights of your journey?

Always hearing the heartbeat for the first time is a huge highlight in any pregnancy.

I enjoyed that the IPs allowed us to surprise them with the gender. We sent ultrasounds, a heart beat stuffed animal, outfits, and a card revealing the gender.

During the birth the intended mother did not leave my side; she supported me through every push and continued that support after the birth to ensure my pain was manageable.

Q. Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming a gestational surrogate?

My best advice is to make sure you are clear with the type of relationship you want with IPs because that will make a world of a difference.

Q. How do you feel about your experience working with Family Source Consultants?

I never met an unkind soul with the agency and I was very appreciative of their support throughout my journey.

Q. What did you find was the biggest misconception people had about surrogacy?

That the baby was half my DNA.

Q. What would you like other people to know about surrogacy?

The emotional reward outweighs all the doubts, frustration, and even the pain you go through.

Q. How has becoming a surrogate impacted your life?

Positively. I feel better in setting a good example for my kids that sacrificing just a 1 year and half of your life can give someone 18+ with a child they always dreamed of having.

Q. Was this pregnancy different than your other pregnancies? If so, how?

The only difference was that I showed later on and had to be induced instead of my water breaking on its own.

Q. How did you prepare yourself for separating from the baby after birth?

I decided to not hold or interact until the next day after delivery. I ended up opting out of holding, but did see and talk to the little guy. I also reminded myself often throughout [my journey] that it was not mine and that helped.

Q. What would you like someone who is considering working with a surrogate to know?

Their bodies go through a lot along with mental and emotional stress so be as kind, understanding, and patient as you can be.
