Meet Naysia!

“I love the agency. They were very supportive and helpful every step of the way. Knowing that they are always going to have my best interest at heart has me really considering doing a second journey through Family Source Consultants.

Naysia is an amazing surrogate that delivered an adorable baby boy for a loving family.

Q: What led you to become a Surrogate?

I had a close friend who keeps trying for a baby that ends with heartbreak after heartbreak each time. After her last miscarriage, it hit her hard to the point she stopped talking to most of her friends. Seeing her go through that time after time and knowing that there are a lot of others who want to grow their families, knowing I could potentially help someone in a way I wish I could have for her made me pursue being a surrogate.

Q. Who was the most significant support person throughout your journey?

My children helped me with anything needed throughout the journey.

Q. What made you decide to choose your Intended Parents?

The agency matched us and we hit it off right away! It has never felt weird or uncomfortable talking with them. I’m glad that we met.

Q. What are some of the highlights of your journey?

Being medically cleared, followed by the first heartbeat, then finally seeing the baby with his family.

Q. Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming a gestational surrogate?

Being patient is very important. Lean on the agency for anything you need; don’t be afraid to ask questions. There are sometimes setbacks but Family Source Consultants are very supportive through each step. Another thing I would say is join the support group to have other surrogates that can relate to you and share their experiences.

Q. How do you feel about your experience working with Family Source Consultants?

I love the agency. They were very supportive and helpful every step of the way. Knowing that they are always going to have my best interest at heart has me really considering doing a second journey through Family Source Consultants.

Q: What did you find was the biggest misconception people had about surrogacy?

People don’t realize that science has come a very long way. They are not aware that being a surrogate means that the child is not biologically related to you.

Q: What would you like other people to know about surrogacy?

It is not an overnight thing. It may take months to prepare your body to be ready for a transfer. It may also take several transfers. You have to be open-minded and very strong willed.

Q: What was the funniest/strangest/most common questions you were asked as a surrogate? How did you answer?

The most common question was “are you sure you are going to be able to give up the baby”? I always said yes, it’s not my baby and I know the parents.

Q: How has becoming a surrogate impacted your life?

It was a learning experience. It also was a very overwhelming sense of joy knowing that I played an important role in helping a family grow. I feel like this experience opened up deeper conversations within my own family.

Q: Was this pregnancy different than your other pregnancies? If so, how?

It was very different. I had pretty easy pregnancies and this one I had more symptoms and more pain but it was worth it. One of the most positive things in my surrogate journey was knowing I was pregnant so soon and what to expect every step of the way. It also seemed like it went a lot faster.

Q: How did you prepare yourself for separating from the baby after both?

By keeping in close touch with the IPs and having the mom at the prenatal visits and in the delivery room.

Q: What would you like someone who is considering working with a surrogate to know?

The surrogate journey is long. It is really important that you find someone to work with that you really match with.
