Meet Rebecca!
“Family Source Consultants has been such an amazing agency to work with! Their attentiveness and compassion towards every situation is what really makes them stand out. I love how close I have become with this agency and the amazing people who have helped me and my intended parents focus whole-heartedly on having a baby. “
Q: What led you to become a Surrogate?
Starting off with egg donation, I wanted to experience the next step of creating families and decided to pursue surrogacy! I truly enjoy helping to create families and growing as a person from my experiences.
Q. Who was/is your greatest support person/s throughout your journey?
My fiance, by far! He has been an amazing support through all of my egg donations and surrogacies. I couldn’t have done any of this without his love and support!
Q. What made you decide to choose your Intended Parents?
As someone who appreciates the psychology field, I found my matches through the energy shown from their profiles and on our skype meetings. Surrogacy is an exciting thing for me and I wanted to find intended parents who shared that same excitement. Also, their passion for their future child was most inspiring in our decision to match!
Q. What are some of the highlights of your journey?
Definitely the embryo transfer and the birth! Those are the most precious moments in both of my journies. I also enjoyed spending Christmas with my most recent intended parents, getting to know them in person!
Q. Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming a gestational surrogate?
Take your time on your journey. There may be bumps in the road or hiccups along the way, but that is why it is called a journey. Before you know it, you will be at the end of your pregnancy, giving your intended parents their dream of becoming a family and it’s such a bittersweet moment you will never want to forget. So take your time getting there and enjoy the journey.
Q. What did you find was the biggest misconception people had about surrogacy?
How hard it is to “give up” a baby. It’s as simple as changing perspective to realize that, as a surrogate, we simply “babysit” our intended parents’ babies until they are ready to be held in their parents’ arms. We have our own families to love and raise and want to see our intended parents experience that as well. It can be hard to say goodbye, but we don’t just say goodbye to the baby, we say farewell to the family that we have learned to love over the span of our journey but stay excited to watch them enjoy their new child(ren). A lot of times, it’s not goodbye forever!
Q. How has becoming a surrogate impacted your life?
It has really helped shape my perspective on the love and commitment it takes to create families. I feel more humble about how blessed I was to have my family. This opportunity to help others has given me a higher purpose in life. I have a lot more respect for people who must undergo fertility treatment for something that we take for granted everyday! I never thought my heart could be so full until I decided to take the journey to create families.
