My name is Rachael, I am 29 yo, I live in Palm Coast, FL and my family consists of my husband and our daughter, Olivia (4) and son, Wyatt (18 months) and 3 crazy dogs! We love spending the weekends at the Waterpark, Zoo, Disney, Legoland, Bounce House, really anything that our kids love doing. I work full time as a Multimedia Sales Executive with our local Newspaper. I have been there almost 11 years. I also am very involved with
a local non-profit animal rescue group that is a no kill shelter and a local non-profit for Veterans. With the animals, I volunteer for their bi-monthly low cost shot clinics and for the Veterans, I go shopping for about 15 of them and get everything on their wish lists (we play Santa every Christmas).
The idea to carry for someone else began when I was a teenager. I have a cousin, who has always been more like a sister to me, who is unable to carry. I always told her if I could have kids that I would carry for her. After I had my first child, we discussed it again and unfortunately her husband was not on board with it. So, I spoke with my husband, and said since we were open to helping them, why not help someone else once we completed our own family. After we had our second child, while I was on maternity leave, I really started researching the idea. I contacted a local fertility office in our area and asked if they had a gestational surrogacy program. They didn’t, however they recommended FSC.
This is how my surrogacy journey began…. I am now in my first journey, carrying a little
girl for the most wonderful International IF’s! I could not have asked for a better match! I even call them my other husbands!! This has been the most amazing thing I have ever done and I hope to be able to do this again in the future.I also think it is instilling great values in my daughter and teaching her about kindness and helping others.
If I could tell you anything,if you’re just getting started, it is do your research on everything beforehand, and make sure you have a great support group, anything can happen. I couldn’t have done this without the support of my husband and my mother in law. Our first transfer was successful, but I miscarried at almost 9 weeks. It took 4 months to be able to transfer again and here we are now more than halfway. It will all work out the way it is supposed to. Just try to relax and enjoy the journey!
