In February of 1998, I underwent a partial hysterectomy five months after my son was born via emergency cesarean section nearly three months premature. In 2002, my husband and I began the process to build our family with the assistance of a gestational carrier. After years of disappointment and grief of multiple egg retrievals and three unsuccessful embryo transfers, we were thrilled to welcome our healthy son in 2005 with the help of an amazing surrogate.
Shortly after completing my surrogacy journey, I made the decision to give back to the world of Third-Party Reproduction. My own personal experience with surrogacy gave me an incredible appreciation for the women who selflessly carry babies for others and made me realize that I, too, wanted to give back to another family in need. As a result, I served as a known egg donor twice. In May of 2007, the family who received my eggs welcomed a son, and two years later, they welcomed a beautiful baby girl. The experience of being an egg donor afforded me a new perspective and personal experience in yet another facet of the world of Third-Party Reproduction.
Navigating my surrogacy and egg donor journeys independently made me realize the overwhelming need for a professional agency to advise and guide individuals like myself to a successful outcome. I am eternally grateful for the woman who carried our son and I am grateful to have been able to give back to another family by becoming an egg donor. My passion and inspiration for Third-Party Reproduction lead me to co-found Family Source Consultants, and I am thankful every day to be able to help so many people build their families through the work we do.
