“Enjoy the process; every moment is special. The moment you match with the surrogate, when you meet her in person, when you hold your baby for the first time.”

These proud parents decided to pursue surrogacy after exploring IVF and adoption options. They reached out to FSC and welcomed their beautiful twins with the help of a TeamFSC Surrogate.

Please describe yourself and your partner. Is there anything you’d like to share about how you met, or what your life is like together today?

My husband and I have been together more than thirty years; we decided to build a bigger family but we discovered that it could not be possible in a natural way, so after investigating different [options] we discovered surrogacy.

Did you research other avenues of family building? Why did you end up choosing surrogacy?

Trying to create a family we tried IVF and adoption. IVF didn’t work and adoption took too many years. One day we [saw] a tv program about surrogacy in [the] United States and we thought that was the best way to build our family.

Tell us about your journey. Were there any special events or difficulties along the way?

Fortunately, our journey was really easy. We have nice memories of this.

Do you remember what you were thinking/feeling when you held your child for the first time?

It was indescribable. The greatest joy experienced.

Is there anything you learned along your journey that you wish you had known when you started pursuing surrogacy?

Enjoy the process; every moment is special. The moment you match with the surrogate, when you meet her in person, when you hold your baby for the first time.

Do you have any advice for other couples/individuals who may be considering surrogacy as a way to build their own family?

To have patience [and] to have a lot of communication with the surrogate.
