We are so happy that we worked with FSC. Right from the start, when we were figuring out if surrogacy was the right option for us, and if FSC was the right agency, we felt welcomed and supported with no pressure. Every single person we worked with at FSC was GREAT. We always knew what was going on, what we had to do next, and what to expect in general. We are huge question-askers and always felt like we had resources to reach out to and that we quickly got answers. Additionally, we felt like the whole process was very personal, which speaks to the efforts and warmth of FSC and their team. – FSC Parents L&M

L&M weren’t sure that surrogacy was the right option until friends encouraged them to learn more. They contacted FSC with their questions in early 2019 and less than 2 years later, their daughter was born! They became parents to a beautiful little girl in February 2021 with the help of TeamFSC Surrogate Danyelle.

How did you first hear about surrogacy?

Early in our journey to have a family we briefly looked at surrogacy, but at the time, it did not seem like the right fit. Fast forward to many years later, and we had a couple of people in our lives that really advocated for surrogacy and that we look into it more seriously. We are so thankful for that push because we did more research and connected with FSC!

How did you tell friends and family and how did they react?

We told our families right away when we started looking into surrogacy. We knew since we had pursued other paths previously, that they would be supportive and help us on our journey. We told extended family and friends as we moved along in the process and found that everyone was excited and happy for us, although there was definitely some curiosity and questions about the surrogacy process!

What was your relationship like with your surrogate? Was it different than you expected? What is it like now?

We say this to anyone and everyone who asks. We do think not we could have possibly matched with a better surrogate. She is such a genuine, compassionate, absolutely wonderful person.  She was great at communicating with us and keeping us as involved with the pregnancy as was allowed (covid times). We keep in touch with her and hope that continues!!

What was your favorite memory of your surrogacy journey?

The actual birth and thereafter are a little of a blur. But I vividly remember standing next to my husband staring out our baby daughter as the nurse cleaned her. I was happy crying and I half turned and blindly reached out to grab our surrogate’s hand and squeeze it. I don’t remember exactly what she said, but it was something like “you are a mom.” I looked at my husband and our baby and cue my happy crying becoming full-on bawling. It was just such a happy and surreal moment.

Do you have any advice for intended parents who are just starting out?

We found everything to be a little overwhelming at first; nerves and hopefulness all running together. Our advice would be to lean on the agency, and your case manager once assigned, and do not be afraid to ask questions. Addressing everything one piece at a time, and asking questions to better understand everything, helped us feel less overwhelmed.
