How did you first hear about surrogacy?
Through another gay couple from Barcelona who were involved in a Spanish Surrogacy Agency.
How did you know that your surrogate was the one for you?
From minute 0, once she popped up on the screen on matching day, the way she looked at us, there was a magical connection. An angel just came down to earth to help us build our family.
How did you tell friends and family and how did they react?
Our family knew about our dream from a previous journey that did not end up in a positive pregnancy. When we told them about our surrogate, the true connection, and the way we felt about this new journey, they all burst into tears of joy.
What was your relationship like with your surrogate? Was it different than you expected? What is it like now?
It was an easy-going relationship from start. We were so confident she knew everything it takes in terms of surrogacy and her previous journey that let her go without being on her back. We looked after each other no matter what but kept in mind she had her own children and needed time for herself. Our surrogate’s husband, children, parents, parents-in-law, and herself are truly our second family. We text each other weekly and share with them every new step our precious girl goes into.
Did you have any fears or worries about working with a surrogate?
If you are open enough on matching day by sharing your fears, there should not be any fears at all. The key is to know in advance how you envision your journey with your surrogate.
Do you have any advice for intended parents who are just starting out?
Be yourself, never stop believing, persevere on achieving your goal, do not hurry when being matched, and let your surrogate lead you in this unforgettable journey.
