Meet S!
“Family Source Consultants was beside me every step of the way. They care deeply about their donors and their surrogates, and do their best to make sure our experience is stress-free, smooth sailing. Not a week went by where Family Source Consultants didn’t follow up with me, answer any of my questions, or help provide important information regarding my medical screenings, lab work, etc. They made my first journey as an egg donor easy and I’m looking forward to working with them through future donations!”
Q. What led you to become an Egg Donor?
When the talk of having children would arise, my husband and I realized neither of us would ever truly be ready for it. As a woman not knowing if I will ever be ready for children, there is a part of me that will always have the desire to experience it in some way.
Initially, egg donation and surrogacy never really crossed my mind. I figured the only way I could experience the Gift of Life was through having children of my own. That was until I talked to a few friends who struggled with fertility. Some of them either had to consider an egg donor or a surrogate to help start their family. The more we talked about it, the more I realized this was a way I could help people like them while simultaneously fulfilling a personal experience.
Originally, I looked into becoming a surrogate; to me, pregnancy is one of the most beautiful things in the world. Since I don’t have children of my own, I didn’t meet the requirements, so applying to become an egg donor was next on my list.
From the moment I was accepted into Family Source Consultants as one of their egg donors, my mind was thrilled with the possibilities I could bring for Intended Parents and the difference I could make in their lives. Regardless of whether you are an egg donor or a surrogate, there are no words to describe the gratification you feel after helping a couple bring a life into this world!
Q. Who was your largest support person(s) throughout your journey?
My husband was my largest supporter throughout the entire journey. Especially around the retrieval period, he took care of me, made me feel comfortable and handled the majority of the travel stress!
Q. What made you decide to be closed/semi-open/open with your Intended Parents?
Although I opted in as an anonymous donor (to keep both parties’ privacy) I am open to the semi-open donation, if the Intended Parents ask me through Family Source Consultants. This is mainly because I understand the decisions they make throughout this process are huge, and I want the Intended Parents to be comfortable and confident with me as their donor. With a semi-open donation, I am open to answering any questions they may have for me.
Q. Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming an Egg Donor?
You are providing a family with one of the greatest gifts of all, something they may not be able to achieve without your decision to become an egg donor. The first donation journey may be long, but there is no better feeling than helping a couple accomplish their dream of becoming parents!
