What led you to become an Egg Donor?

When I first learned about egg donation years ago, I knew it was something that I wanted to do in the future.  I’ve known several people who have struggled with infertility and who wanted nothing more than to become parents.  Knowing that I am capable of helping someone start a family, I feel compelled to take part and offer anything that I possibly can.  After I had kids of my own I thought the timing was right and I was really excited to potentially help someone create or expand their family.

Who was your largest support person(s) throughout your journey?

My partner was actually away training for the majority of my donation cycle, up until retrieval, so really the staff at FSC and RMI were probably my biggest support system.  My family and friends were supportive as well and constantly asked for updates, but the consistent contact with Adriana and Jessica was really great.

What made you decide to be closed/semi-open/open with your Intended Parents?

I was actually open to any type of arrangement.  I would definitely like to do an open arrangement at some point, but this closed donation went just fine.

Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming an Egg Donor?

I would definitely encourage you to do your research before you make the commitment.  I watched a lot of people’s journeys on their YouTube channels and Instagram accounts.  It’s very eye-opening and really shows you what the process entails from the perspective of someone who is actually going through the journey.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience?

I had an overall great experience with my first donation. It was pretty effortless on my part with all the help of FSC.  I think we had a great outcome and I really hope everything went well on the IP’s end as well.  I’m excited for my next donation!
