What led you to become an Egg Donor?

My family is nothing like the typical “nuclear” family. We have biological, half, step, and adopted siblings. It is my experience with non-traditional methods to create your own family that made it easy for me to choose to become an egg donor! The more I learned about the process, the more excited I became for my opportunity to bring someone else the family they desire!

Who was your most significant support person(s) throughout your journey?

I had a few people who deserve my gratitude, as they supported me greatly throughout my donation. My husband gets most of the kudos, as he helped me with injections and traveled alongside me, always with unwavering support! My mom and grandmother were also fantastic supports. They asked all the right questions and helped me with all of the details for my application.

What made you decide to be closed/semi-open/open with your Intended Parents?

I left the decision of anonymity to the Intended Parents. Since the end result of my donation was for them, and their future family, it seemed like the right thing to give them the disclosure that they preferred.

Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming an Egg Donor?

Being an egg donor has been one of the most fulfilling opportunities I have ever had! I am so grateful and can’t wait to do it again! With that said, my advice to other women interested is to be ready to answer a lot of questions and talk in detail about your experience. Everyone I spoke to about my donation was intensely curious, which created a great opportunity to educate!
