In an interview from People magazine, Sagal said this about deciding to use a surrogate:
“We went through the whole in vitro fertilization process and our embryos were not really strong, but we thought, ‘Let’s give it a shot and if it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be,’ ” she says. “And if it wasn’t, we weren’t going to do it.”
Although there are many celebrities who have used donor eggs or surrogacy to build their families, many people who choose third-party reproduction are ordinary men and women who want to have children but can’t. There are as many reasons why someone may need an egg donor or a surrogate as there are reasons why women donate their eggs or become surrogates.
